ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU CAN’T GO BACK
”Professor Hawking, you have said
you don’t believe in God. Do you have a philosophy of life that helps you?”
“It is clear that we are just
advanced breed of primates, on a minor planet orbiting around a very average
star in the outher suburb of one among billion galaxies. But ever since the
dawn of civilization people have craved for an understanding of the underlying
order of the world. There ought to be something very special about the boundary
conditions of the universe. And what can be more special than that there is no
boundary. And there sould be no boundary to human endeavor. We are all
diferrent. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do and
succed at. Where there is life, there is hope.”
Stephen Hawking is one of three
big scientist in Physics, besides Newton and Einstein. If Einstein talk about Supreme
Intelligence, I think he is talking about God in science. He believes that God
is GreatGreat Scientist. God created the universe (or maybe the multiverse) with unparalleled accuracy. Human
task is to learn to understand God’s creation.
When we were young, we are too confident
that we will find the final frontier of the universe. Stephen Hawking who
believed that he can find Theory of Everything finally realized that there is
no boundaries in the universe.
But, Professor Hawking did not stop
there. He continued with great philosophy. “If there is no boundary in the
universe, there should be no boundary to human endeavor. Where there is life,
there is hope.” This philosophy, in my opinion, come from two condition; First,
his was wrong about his prediction, Theory of Everything. Second, Even though
he have physical problems, it does not prevent him to explore the universe. He is
most famous in Cosmology, Black Hole, and supporter of many world
interpretation of quantum mechanics.
Regardless of his distrust in
God, he has admit that there are no boundaries to the universe. If we believe that
there are no boundaries, it’s because the universe is arrange by Supreme
Intelligence.
